Hours: Professors may teach between the hours of 8:00am and 10:00pm
Salary Range: $65,250 - $113,115 (based on relevant educational qualifications and experience)

The Faculty of Applied Health and Community Studies invites applications for a full-time faculty position which will develop and teach a range of courses in the Educational Support program in the Faculty of Applied Health & Community Studies. He/she will have the opportunity to teach courses related to special needs and special education for Kindergarten to grade 12 context.

Specific Responsibilities
• Ensuring that program and course curricula are current, relevant and reflective of best practices within the relevant professional/program disciplines
• Defining, evaluating and validating learning outcomes for courses and programs
• Creating an effective environment for applied learning which accommodates students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences and learning styles
• Designing appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and assessing student learning that are invitational and reflective of best practices in teaching and learning
• Developing appropriate strategies and tools to assess student performance that are consistent with the learning outcomes of the course and address multiple learning styles
• Developing multi-media materials and alternative delivery strategies, and incorporating appropriate educational technologies into the applied learning process

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Education, Disability Studies, Psychology (or related field) required (Master’s preferred)
• A minimum of 5 years of professional post-secondary Field Practicum Supervision experience (Educational Support / Child and Youth Worker preferred)
• A minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience as an Educational Assistant in a Board of Education
• Experience supporting Kindergarten to Grade 12 students who exhibit challenging behaviour in the classroom;
• Experience in teaching and curriculum development at the post-secondary level
• Experience with multiple teaching formats, including face-to-face, flipped learning, hybrid and distance learning (asset)
• Demonstrable ability to convey the conceptual and applied aspects of knowledge to a broad range of students
• Strong network of contacts with other professionals, agencies and employers
• Committed to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environment
• Formal studies in adult or higher education an asset
• Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
• Committed to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environment
