The department of Film, Television and Journalism in the Faculty of Animation, Arts and Design seeks a visionary and dedicated educator to serve within its Film and Media programs. The candidate must have demonstrated, contemporary technical and operational experience working at the forefront of emerging digital technologies currently reshaping and redefining contemporary broadcasting and media distribution channels. The successful candidate will have a record of creative activity, as a producer and/or researcher, exploring and critiquing these nascent narrative forms, formats and storyworlds as they have emerged.

The incumbent must also have a demonstrable record of excellence in classroom teaching, with proven experience creating learning environments that engender exploratory growth and creative innovation. A strong history of successful pedagogical support of learning diversity is a foundational requirement, as is a record of creative and innovative curriculum development that brings digital media technology into the classroom and curriculum in new and exciting ways.

The successful candidate must also have the theoretical grounding to conjoin their high technical skill with the conceptual knowledge necessary to equip students with the critical capacity to continue to interpret, adapt and innovate in a rapidly-changing digital media landscape. In keeping with the Faculty’s commitment to studio-based education, the incumbent must demonstrate a history of successful creative practice and innovation in both their professional work and teaching, with a spirit of teaching theory through practice.

Specific Responsibilities:
•Ensuring that program and course curricula are current, relevant and reflective of best practices within the relevant professional/program disciplines
•Defining, evaluating and validating learning outcomes for courses and programs
•Creating an effective environment for applied learning which accommodates students’ diverse cultural and educational backgrounds, experiences and learning styles
•Designing appropriate strategies and tools for facilitating and assessing student learning that are invitational and reflective of best practices in teaching and learning
•Developing appropriate strategies and tools to assess student performance that are consistent with the learning outcomes of the course and address multiple learning styles
•Developing multi-media materials and alternative delivery strategies, and incorporating appropriate educational technologies into the applied learning process

•A Master’s Degree in studies related to media arts, education or an associated field
•A minimum of five years working within emerging digital media production environments including web streaming or traditional broadcast production, web influencer and/or game development fields.
•A minimum of 3 years’ experience teaching and curriculum development for adult learners
•Demonstrated capacity for teaching in both theoretical and creative learning environments
•Strong network of contacts with other professionals, organizations & employers relevant to the emerging broadcast industries
•Excellent communications and interpersonal skills
•Ability to convey the conceptual and applied aspects of knowledge to a broad range of students
•Committed to excellence in teaching and learning and to working within a team environment
