A counsellor is responsible for the following:
A Master’s of Psychology, Educational Psychology, Counselling or Social Work with an in-depth understanding of Indigenous needs, current challenges in the provision of psychosocial supports, as well as accessibility services in a post-secondary environment required. Registration in appropriate regulatory College is a must. Preference will be given to individuals with a minimum of 2 years of work experience supporting Indigenous students in an academic context, with understanding and practical experience of culturally-specific individual psychosocial and psychoeducational approaches, as well as group approaches, to promote and ensure academic engagement, success and acclimatization to a post-secondary environment. Background must include an understanding of psychosocial and cultural needs of Indigenous students and their families, appropriate and effective approaches to assessment, risk assessment and management, counselling and accessibility programming, as well as experience working with Indigenous groups and organizations, students at risk, school boards and community organizations on behalf of Indigenous students. Knowledge of and experience with a range of disabilities, including ADHD, Acquired Brain Injury, Blind/Visual Impairment, Deaf/Hard of Hearing, Learning Disability, Medical Conditions, Mental Health Conditions and/or Mobility Impairment preferred. Experience working as part of an interprofessional team considered an asset. Preference will be given to qualified applicants with Indigenous heritage (self-identified). Please note this position does require regular tri-campus travel.

SALARY & TERMS: Full-Time Counsellor / Annual Salary Range: $63,971 - $110,897 (Commensurate with qualifications and experience in accordance with the Academic Collective Agreement)
