DUTIES: Northern College is seeking a qualified professional to teach a variety of courses in the programs of Addiction & Mental Health Worker and Social Service Worker.

As part of teaching assigned courses, the successful candidate will be expected to act as an academic advisor to students in the program, participate as a leader and effective team member working in groups at the college, create a positive teaching and learning environment, using a variety of strategies and materials in the multi-modal delivery of courses. The incumbent should embody a commitment to student success and professional development and demonstrate capacity for leadership in a multi-cultural organization. In addition, the successful candidate must ensure currency and relevance of the teaching material and assessment techniques, must participate in recruitment and program promotion initiatives, and participate in professional development activities at Northern College relevant to his/her own needs.

QUALIFICATIONS:

-Bachelor of Social Work degree is required;

-Master of Social Work degree (asset);

-Member in good standing with the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (asset);

-Minimum of 5 years of experience in the field of Addiction and Mental Health Counselling (required);

-Teaching and/or training experience with evidence of demonstrated application of adult and distance learning principles, as well as teaching/assessment methodologies, curriculum design and development (asset);

-Teaching experience using a variety of modes of delivery (video, web-based, etc.) and methodologies (asset);

-Self-motivated problem solver with evidence of exemplary communication, interpersonal, teamwork and computer skills (i.e. Microsoft Office Suite) (asset);

-A combination of relevant education and relevant experience may be considered.



The successful candidate may be required to provide a criminal reference check.
