What responsibilities will you have in this role?
The School of Architectural Studies at George Brown College is inviting candidates qualified to teach technology-based subjects in both lecture and lab formats as well as potential studio/collaboration teaching responsibilities, to submit applications for a full-time faculty position.

It is preferred that interested candidates demonstrate an interest in the application of both technology and design as they relate to building systems, building science, materials, methods and procurement and understand the importance of the integration of these plays in the School of Architectural Studies’ industry-recognized curricula.

The Professor will:
•Be a team-player and work collegially with academic and other colleagues including industry partners.
•Provides academic leadership and maintain and develop an effective learning environment for students through the design, revision, updating of courses, defining and validating learning outcomes, develop and/or select appropriate teaching and learning materials.
•Defines and revises subject/program objectives; devise and evaluate course learning outcomes.
•Uses professional expertise to teach students, to tutor and counsel students, and to evaluate student achievements.
•Participates in the work of curriculum, program advisory and other committees.
•Keeps professional currency through consultation with business and industry representatives as well as academic colleagues.
•Contributes to other areas of activity ancillary to the academic programs of the School, including but not limited to curriculum-based Applied Research projects.
•Teach students in all years of the Architectural Technology and Interior Design Technology Programs and other programs within the Centre for Construction and Engineering Technologies.


What qualifications do you need for this role?
•Must hold a Degree or equivalent with a specialization in Architecture-based or Interior
Design-based technologies; a Master’s degree will be considered an asset.
•Must have a minimum of three years of experience of collaborative teaching, curriculum development, learning strategies and teaching adult learners experience in both lecture and studio-based/hands-on teaching/learning environments.
•Must be flexible in adapting to change and committed to working collaboratively within a team environment and to participating in a consultative decision-making process.
•Ability to convey the conceptual and practical aspects of programs’ curricula to students, respecting their diverse backgrounds, experience and individual learning styles is essential.
•Active membership and participation with one or more relevant professional associations is preferred.
•Strong background in several of the following areas is essential: Architectural Technology, Interior Design Technology, Building Information Modelling and related Digital Design Technologies, Building Science and Sustainability, as identified in the curriculum.
•Experience in writing research grant proposals and developing applied research projects is considered as an asset.
•Proficiency in the use of digital design technologies, software and computer applications and advanced knowledge and proficiency in the skills required to setup, manage and participate in a 3D digital engineering/virtual design/BIM process.
• Must have experience using computer applications in the AutoDesk suite including AutoCAD, REVIT, Studio 3Ds MAX.
•Working knowledge of one or more other applications in the AutoDesk suite such as Insight, and Green Building Studio is an asset.
•Working knowledge of other digital technologies such as Rhino, NavisWorks, Dynamo, Bluebeam, Lumion and Enscape, V-Ray, Solibri, Codebook , Clarity, is preferred.
•Desire to contribute to the education of the next generation of students in the Architectural Technology and Interior Design Technology Programs.
•Demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching and learning and proven approach to life-long learning.
•Excellent communication, collaboration, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
•Involvement in innovation and professional development related to teaching, use of technology, and student success.
