Personal Counsellor - Counselling and Accessibility Services (CSL 201900004)

Location: London
Employment Group: Faculty
Type of Position: Full-time Permanent
Hours of Work Per Week: 44

Closing Date for Internal Applications (Full-time or Partial Load): January 16, 2019
Closing Date for External Applications: January 23, 2019

Note: This position requires the ability and willingness to travel to regional campuses.

Reporting to the Senior Manager of Counselling and Accessibility Services, the incumbent is responsible for providing personal, academic, and career counselling to students of Fanshawe College.

QUALIFICATIONS
- Requires Master's degree in the field of social work, counselling psychology or a related discipline
- Degree must include a supervised clinical internship
- Professional registration required to practice psychotherapy in the province of Ontario (Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers or College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario)
- Applicants must be a current member in good standing with their respective professional College
- Minimum of three years' experience providing clinical counselling required including demonstrated skills and knowledge of short term counselling techniques, crisis assessment and intervention, and ability to provide psychoeducational group programming related to mindfulness, distress tolerance, and self-care
- Preference for experience in counselling students with mental health and addiction issues in a post-secondary environment
- Excellent verbal and written communication, and strong interpersonal skills required
- Strong commitment and demonstrated ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and in accordance with all legal and ethical requirements

Approximate State Date: February 2019

Salary: Determination of starting salaries is based on relevant teaching/occupational experience and relevant formal qualifications, supported with original transcripts from granting institutions. The salary scale is $62,717 to $108,723 along with a comprehensive benefit package.

Partial load or full-time academic staff presently employed with the College will be given first consideration in accordance with the Academic Collective Agreement.

While transcripts are not required for the interview, they are mandatory prior to any offer of employment.
