Professor – Practical Nursing Diploma Program

Location: Centennial HP Science and Technology Centre (Morningside)

Position Summary:
The successful candidate will be teaching in classroom, nursing simulation laboratory and clinical settings in the School of Community and Health Studies. He or she will participate in program and course development, course modifications, program advisory committees, program approval, applied research initiatives, community outreach and on-going future program needs.

In addition to teaching assigned courses the successful candidate will be expected to:
• Demonstrates effective interpersonal communication skills with all internal and external members of the college community (including students, faculty, management, colleagues from other colleges and universities, community members and other professionals in internal and external educational and practice settings)
• Provide, promote and role model a respectful and supportive environment based upon the principles of inclusion, equity and diversity
• Work effectively in a team-based work environment, including inter and intra-professional teams
• Create a positive teaching environment within all learning spaces
• Use a variety of appropriate teaching/learning strategies that support UDL
• Use academic technology effectively to engage students and support learning
• Evaluate student achievement of learning outcomes using a variety of techniques and provide regular feedback
• Develop, revise and adapt appropriate learning resources to support student learning
• Critically examine learning materials and classroom practices for discriminatory bias or barriers
• Provide academic support for students
• Support curriculum development and revision with knowledge of issues and trends related to nursing and unregulated health professionals in a global environment
• Contribute as a subject matter expert with current knowledge of issues and trends related to the Nursing and nursing profession in a global environment, to support curriculum development and revision
• Participate in reflective practice for continuing learning and development
• Attend meetings, maintain records of student grades/assessments, and participate in activities pertinent to faculty responsibilities
• Utilize Universal Design Learning principles to support and engage students within a variety of leaning environments
• Develop and support the Indigenization of nursing curriculum

• Master’s Degree in Nursing or Education; PhD preferred
• Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario
• A minimum of 3 years of recent clinical experience in maternity, pediatrics, ICU, CCU or emergency room nursing (this may include, but is not limited to: hospital, community, teaching nursing (clinical)
• Experience in utilization of learning management systems at the post-secondary level
• A minimum of 2 years instructing nursing within a classroom, nursing simulation laboratory and clinical setting
• Demonstrates relevant experience in applied research relevant to nursing and/or higher education
• Evidence of on-going professional development in the area of teaching
• Experience in course and learning materials development
• Demonstrated competent written, oral and interpersonal skills
• Demonstrated ability to work positively within a team environment
• Demonstrated knowledge and application of knowledge of diversity, equity, inclusion, and social justice to meet the needs of our diverse students, staff and college community
