POSITION SUMMARY:

Cambrian College’s School of General Studies requires a full-time Professor to teach English beginning January 2019. (Cambrian’s academic year consists of three semesters, and this role may be required to deliver courses during the summer months.)

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Teach Academic and Career Entrance (ACE) level English, pre-ACE English, and self-management/self-direction courses within Academic Upgrading.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Required:
• Bachelor of Arts degree in English and a Bachelor of Education degree. (A copy of educational documents must be submitted with application.)
• Five years of recent teaching experience at the postsecondary level.
• Ability to relate and communicate positively, effectively, and professionally with others.
• Ability to provide leadership and mentorship and be an effective role model in the classroom.
• Ability to utilize creative teaching approaches and current and emerging teaching and learning strategies to enhance student progress.
• Solid commitment to students and education.
• Excellent written communication skills and exceptional interpersonal skills.
• Strong computer literacy with respect to standard office software packages and spreadsheets.
• Effective critical thinking and organizational skills and the ability to function effectively within a team environment.

Additional Assets/Preferred:
• Master’s degree.
